Omega-3, is also written as Ω-3, ω-3, n-3 ,and belongs to poly-unsaturated fatty acid. Omega-3 got the name in its chemical structure, which signifys that the first double bond exists as the third carbon-carbon bond from the terminal methyl end of the carbon chain. Its main active components of Omega-3 fatty acid are PUFA such as EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid)and DHA(Docosahexaenoic acid). EPA and DHA have healthful physical effects on cardiovascular disease, anti-inflammation, anticancer, maintaining neural growth, slowing aging, etc.
